Dear Parish Family,
I am pleased to have accepted the call to be the new Rector of St. John’s in Duxbury. It is wonderful to return to New England – I am a native of Maine and an avid Red Sox fan. My wife, Liz, and son, Preston, and I have completed our move into the Rectory and look forward to getting settled this summer.
My experience, values, and approach to ministry fit well with the qualities that St. John’s was seeking in a rector. I have a good sense of humor. I enjoy creating worship that is dynamic, thoughtful, lively, and inclusive, while staying true to our Episcopal heritage. My preaching style is one where I bring the timeless nature of the Scriptures and of Jesus' teachings, actions, and life into the daily lives of the congregation. I do not claim to have all the answers, and I welcome others with skills and talents that complement my own.
My business and management experience serve me well in the areas of administration, supervision and budget. I have an extensive background in marketing, sales, and public relations that has enabled me to utilize these skills to create innovative approaches to congregational development.
I have extensive experience initiating and leading adult education programs and hope to introduce new opportunities in this area to St. John’s. I feel deeply about staying involved in the councils of the Church. I am highly supportive of St. John’s continuing emphasis on the importance of community ministries.
My background:
Rector, St. Albans Episcopal Church, Wilmington, DE since May 2001.
Vicar, St. Clare's Episcopal Church, Snoqualmie, WA from Aug. 1998 - May 2001
Minister for Church Growth, Trinity Episcopal Church, Everett, WA - April 1997 - 1998
Pastoral Assistant, All Saints' Episcopal Church, Palo Alto, CA - 1996
Intern, Church of the Epiphany, Seattle, WA (summer 1995)
I look forward to greeting you at St. John's!
In peace,
Roy Tripp
